OMNIUM are a brand new online store bringing together a curated selection of independent brands making high performance road cycling apparel. OMNIUM will be sponsoring some of the Haute Route climbing sessions, starting from Thursday 14th July. Every rider taking part will get an OMNIUM goody bag, and there will be a chance to see some of the kit or try it on.
OMNIUM is run by Claire and Jonathan, and the idea behind the site was to bring together some of the great little brands we have come across online that are quite hard to get hold of in the UK. Buying kit from abroad is always complicated by unexpected customs charges, customer service in a different timezone, and uncertainty about what to do if it doesn’t fit. Based in London, OMNIUM sidesteps these obstacles and allows you to find something truly unique, and support an up and coming designer that no-one else has heard of yet.
Our picks to wear in the Lab….
Good Cycling base layer: A base layer with shorts is a good option in the lab, since pockets aren’t really necessary. These base layers for men and women by Dutch brand Good Cycling will keep you cool without looking like you’re in your undergarments…
Hot Wire shorts by Twin Six: Rocking these shorts on a club ride is a pretty strong look, but we think they are perfect for the Lab. They come as bib shorts for men and regular shorts for women, and there are matching jerseys too, if you are feeling brave…
Our picks for the Haute Route…
The Climb #1 cap by The Wonderful Socks: Keep the sun off your face and the sweat out of your eyes with a cap designed to inspire you to climb. Made from fast drying, wicking fabric and lined with an antibacterial tape inside.
Queen of the Mountains Race jersey: The ultimate high performance women’s specific jersey that is cut close to the body with a lightweight fabric that offers UV50 sun protection, wicks away sweat and dries faster than swimwear. It’s quick drying properties not only keep you comfortable on the ride, but mean you can rinse and repeat at the end of each day. Wearing something this technical that looks good at the same time is a real joy.
Hills & Yonder Pedalling Square jersey: Made from Coldblack ® fabric, that does not heat up like other fabrics, and offers UV30 sun protection. Also available is a matching gilet in the same print, to keep you warm on the descents or if the weather changes! Riders at the 14th July event will have exclusive first dibs on these jerseys, as they won’t be going up on the OMNIUM site until the end of July.
We will be at the lab on the following dates:
Thursday 14th July
Tuesday 19th July
Thursday 28th July
Thursday 11th August
We hope to see you all there!
